A while back, I was reading an article about water usage in the Southwest, and have since seen more about it on television. I was alarmed to find that both the Rio Grande (which empties into the Gulf of Mexico and is the nation's 4th biggest river) and the Colorado River (which empties into the Sea of Cortez and crosses 9 U.S. and Mexican states) often don't even reach the sea, instead just dying in the sand a mile or so short.
This song was my response.
Oh, and the "pistol-packing mama" is Mother Earth.
