PC: Jenny Goldman

About Danny

Danny has been a performer and songwriter for over fifteen years and has performed, led bands, and recorded in New York City, Los Angeles, Orlando, and Chicago with artists such as Prateek Kuhad and Baby Alpaca. A violinist and fiddler of over 30 years, Danny was originally classically trained but has been playing soul, indie, folk, and blues styles on violin/fiddle for over fifteen years. Currently in Chicago, Danny performs and records violin with indie country songwriter Thrifty Kid and soul band Barry & the Fountains. He also sings and plays in Chicago and the Midwest in his own band, Danny Severance & the Dinosaurs.

As a private teacher, Danny has worked extensively with adult and younger students, with a main focus in violin/fiddle in addition to teaching vocal, guitar, and bass. Danny's teaching approach is practical, empowering, responsive, and based on what is engaging and fun for the student. Students should expect lessons tailored to their goals and will work on songs they enjoy.

"As a private teacher, I believe in empowering students and I love showing my students helpful patterns, music theory, and new ways to understand the material. My students get to know growth mindset very well."
